My name is Caryn Hornby and I have been a Quality Assured, Ofsted registered childminder since 2004, achieving an Outstanding grade before migrating to an Agency in 2020 which subsequently closed a few years later! I rejoined Ofsted in June 2024 and will have my ‘first’ inspection by December 2026. I cater for children up to the age of 3 years and usually encourage them to go to preschool by the September after their 3rd birthday. I do, however, cover school holidays if required during their first school year.

I live with my husband Ian who is registered as my Assistant. My mum Av is also registered as an Assistant and comes over once a week to help, mainly with the washing up! I have two children of my own, Millie and Matt, who have grown up and left home. We have a cat called Billie who keeps herself to herself, numerous tropical fish and a tortoise called Mr Jeremiah Dublin who is in his mid-twenties; we’ve had him since he was 1!

I run a home from home environment and treat all children as part of my extended family, helping them grow and become confident little people, covering all areas of the EYFS.

My main aim is to encourage and enable children to develop quickly in their early years and do all that I can to ensure they have the best possible start in life, ready for their school years.
